Markt Rimpar

Partnership/Jumelage

My name is Bernhard Weidner; I'm mayor of the municipality of Rimpar and I'd be delighted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our twinning with my colleague from Languidic and the citizens of our partner municipality. I already practice the French language assiduously, but I could use more practice. See you soon, I hope.

We are Annette Göpfert, Rainer Scheuchenpflug and Harald Schmid from the Twinning Committee (www.pk-rimpar.de), which supports the Rimpar municipality in its twinning and organizes exchanges between citizens. We look forward to seeing our Languidic friends again soon.

I'm Bettina Bötsch; as the town council's representative for town twinning, I'd be delighted if we could celebrate 25 years with our colleagues from Languidic next year.

The town twinning with the Breton municipality of Languidic (https://www.languidic.fr/) The first contacts between the towns were established back in 1965 through exchange programs at a sporting level: The table tennis sections and later the football sections of the local clubs built up a bond between the communities through regular mutual visits, which then led to the signing of the official town twinning agreement in 1997.

Languidic is a rural municipality with around 8000 inhabitants in the department of Morbihan. It belongs to the agglomeration of Lorient. The commune is located on the left bank of the Blavet; with an area of 109 km², it is one of the largest communes in the department.

The twentieth anniversary of the town twinning was duly celebrated in Rimpar in 2017 and in Languidic in 2018; however, due to travel restrictions during the coronavirus crisis, it was unfortunately not possible to visit each other in 2020 and 2021. Rimpar municipal council made a clear commitment to the town twinning at its meeting on 21.09.2021 and is currently working with the twinning committee (https://www.pk-rimpar.de/) to breathe new life into the long-standing Franco-German partnership.
