Official opening of the „Alte Schmiede“ parking lots and the parking lots and open space next to the pharmacy

For the official opening of the parking lots at the „Alte Schmiede“ and the parking lots and green space next to the pharmacy, Rimpar's mayor Bernhard Weidner (4th from right) and (from left to right) Holger Diemer (Kaiser und Juritza Landschaftarchitekten), Christian Dehmer from IB Köhl, Oliver Werner (Planning and Construction Department), the head of the Planning and Construction Department of the market town of Rimpar Marco Göbet, Enrico Schindler and Marcel Krüger from Würzburger Pflasterbau (WPB), Franziska Liebig (Kaiser und Juritza Landschaftsarchitekten), Ali Bilgin and Klaus Geis from WPB, Peter Leimeister from IB Köhl, Julius Bayer from H&M – Gartengestaltung, Michael Spies and Ulrich Schätzlein (both WPB) met. Weidner expressed his thanks to all of them.

„It is a great honor for me to stand before you today to celebrate the inauguration of another construction phase in the course of the old town renovation,“ said Mayor Bernhard Weidner in his speech. „Thanks to the sensitivity and gentle guidance of the urban planners at the Government of Lower Franconia, we were able to channel our contentious positions in the municipal council into an urban planning competition. With the solution found there, but above all with the winning team from Kaiser Juritza found there, we have already completed several important milestones—the renovation of the „Old Boys“ School„, but also the “Place of Partnership“, Hofstraße with the bridge, and the Pleichach Terraces."

Following the demolition of the old forge at the end of August 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new parking lots and open spaces on Niederhoferstraße took place in early May 2022. These are being built as part of the one-way ring project. After the parking lot at the „Alte Schmiede“ was already opened for parking at the end of October 2022, the parking lot and open space on Niederhoferstraße next to the pharmacy have now also been officially opened. A total of 35 parking spaces have been created, 18 of which are in the „Alte Schmiede“ area and 17 next to the pharmacy. Both parking lots are framed by a beautiful quarry stone wall. While the parking lot at the „Alte Schmiede“ is also equipped with bicycle stands, a lovely green space with high amenity value has been created in the parking lot next to the pharmacy. Seating and tree plantings invite visitors to linger there.

The cost amounts to approximately 700,000 euros. This means that the gravel lots in this area are now a thing of the past. The construction of these parking spaces is the first phase of the planned one-way loop, which is intended to improve traffic conditions around the market square in the next phase.

01.06.2023

The planting work has been completed.

In addition, bike racks were installed and the arrow markings were applied.

24.05.2023

The paving work is in its final stages; some finishing touches are still needed here.

The planting is scheduled to begin tomorrow.

19.05.2023

Paving, the remaining topsoil work, and various other finishing and cleanup tasks are currently underway, and planting will follow next week.

08.05.2023

Paving work began on 05/04/23.

Planting is scheduled for calendar weeks 20 and 21.

07.03.2023

In the meantime, the edge restraints have been completed, the filter concrete under the natural stone paving areas has been installed, and the sub-base for the transition areas has been constructed.

The temporary asphalt surface in the transition area is scheduled to be installed on Friday.

There is still some work left to do on the natural stone paving, the asphalt surface layer on the parking lot, and the topsoil for the green space, as well as a few remaining tasks.

28.02.2023

Currently, there is no one on the construction site because the crew is out due to illness and replacements must first be found. Furthermore, the work is, of course, heavily dependent on the weather.

The asphalt base course was laid in the traffic lane, and the paving stones were laid in the parking spaces.

The plan is to install the edging along the access area to the parking lot and lay the temporary surfacing in the transition area to the existing structure over the next few days.

Next, we still have to complete the natural stone work and various remaining tasks.

14.02.2023

The perimeter borders of the parking spaces were installed, and the subgrade for the gravel base course was prepared.

Tomorrow, the asphalt base course for the lane will be laid.

08.02.2023

In the meantime, the subgrade for the frost protection layer has been prepared, and the sewer manholes have been set to the correct elevation.

Next, the edging around the parking area will be installed.

31.01.2023

Over the next few days, the main sewer line to Niederhoferstraße will be completed, the future green space will be prepared, the areas for the natural stone paving will be prepared (weather permitting, the paving will take place in about 4 weeks), and the actual parking lot area will be constructed.

20.12.2022

This week, the edging around the tree pit, the seating blocks, and a drainage channel were installed and will continue to be installed, after which the construction site will be winterized.

Work will resume in early February, weather permitting.

07.12.2022

Work is continuing on the subbase and edging for the paved areas around the plaza.

30.11.2022

Work on the rear walkway will continue this week—the gravel subbase will be completed, and a tree pit and the pole foundations for the lighting will be constructed. In addition, work will begin on installing the edging and seating blocks.

The streetlights will be installed at the "Alte Schmiede" parking lot this week.

18.10.2022

The asphalt surface course was laid today; next, the signage and arrow markings for the entrance and exit will be installed, so the opening is (expected to) take place next week.

28.09.2022

In the Niederhofer Straße open space area, the natural stone wall has now been fully completed.

28.09.2022

In the parking lot area on the Alte Schmiede side, the natural stone wall has been completed, the curbs have been installed, and the asphalt base course has been laid.

Next, the paved areas, tree islands, and green spaces will be created.

20.09.2022

Area of the Alte Schmiede parking lot: the wall has been completed and civil engineering work has continued. Thus, the subgrade of the frost protection layer has been established, and the necessary work for the sewer and lighting has been carried out. Currently, the edge curbs of the parking spaces are being installed.

Niederhofer Straße Open Space Area: The wall is taking shape and will be completed in the next few days.

06.09.2022

The wall for the „Alte Schmiede“ parking lot will be pointed and completed this week.

Work on the wall for the open space on Niederhoferstraße next to the pharmacy is in full swing.

27.07.2022

Work on the natural stone wall in the „Alte Schmiede“ area will continue this week and next week.

Following the company's annual leave, the natural stone wall is scheduled to be completed there in the 34th calendar week.

Starting from the 35th calendar week, civil engineering work at the „Alte Schmiede“ parking lot will be resumed, and work on the natural stone wall in the Niederhoferstraße open space area will begin.

20.07.2022

In the „Open Space“ area, the sewer line was extended from Partnership Square to the construction site, and work began on the foundation for the natural stone wall.

Work on the natural stone wall is still ongoing in the „Alte Schmiede“ area.

Once the foundation is completed, „only“ natural stone wall work will be on the agenda in both areas for the time being.

13.07.2022

Work has begun on the natural stone wall at the Alte Schmiede site.

On the opposite side, the gravel parking lot at the pharmacy will be shifted about 5-10m to the north, so that work can be carried out here at the same time.

First, the canal coming from „Platz der Partnerschaft“ will be extended. Subsequently, preparatory work will take place and the foundation for the natural stone wall on this side will be built.

27.06.2022

After the soil replacement and a full-surface blinding layer made of crushed stone were completed, the company finished the concrete foundations for the natural stone wall.

The masonry subcontractor will begin next week after the concrete foundation has cured.

31.05.2022

During the excavation work to create the stable sub-base, it was found that the existing subgrade does not have sufficient load-bearing capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to excavate approximately 30 cm deeper, lay a filter geotextile, and create soil improvement using coarse crushed stone.

Furthermore, old foundations and basement walls are still being demolished, and the sewer lines and the foundation for the natural stone wall are being constructed.

18.05.2022

The new retaining wall in the back made of L-shaped concrete panels has been completed and backfilled. At a later date, the upper layer with topsoil and planting will be applied here.

The further measures at present are:

  • Removal of excess excavated material
  • Breakup and removal of concrete and paved surfaces
  • Installation of sewer pipes for the drainage of the square
  • Construction of the foundations for the natural stone wall

10.05.2022

The lower retaining wall made of so-called L-shaped elements has been completed and is now being backfilled so that the upper, second row can then be installed.

03.05.2022

Groundbreaking ceremony for the new construction of parking lots and open spaces on Niederhoferstrasse

Until the end of August 2021, the „Alte Schmiede“ (Old Forge) still stood in Rimpar. Following its demolition, the groundbreaking ceremony has now taken place for the new parking lots and open spaces on Niederhoferstraße, which are being built as part of the one-way ring project. For this occasion, (from left to right) Oliver Werner from the Building and Planning Department of the Market Town of Rimpar, Holger Diemer from the architectural firm Kaiser, Juritza and Partner, Rimpar's Mayor Bernhard Weidner, and Michael Spies from Würzburger Pflasterbau met at the site. As those responsible announce, a concrete retaining wall will first be installed section by section in the rear area, followed by a quarry stone wall toward the front. A total of 18 parking spaces are to be created there. Following this measure, the parking spaces in the open area on Niederhoferstraße next to the pharmacy will be created. In addition to an open space with a green area, 17 parking spaces are planned here. The costs are estimated at 700,000 euros. Thus, the gravel lots in this area will soon be a thing of the past. The creation of the parking spaces is the first phase of the planned one-way ring, which in a next step is intended to improve traffic conditions around the market square.
