900 years of Rimpar – an anniversary that makes us pause.
An anniversary that makes us aware of our roots.
And one that shows how much change is part of our history.
Since its first documented mention in 1126, Rimpar has been a place that has continually transformed—while remaining true to itself. Over the centuries, early settlements evolved into an established community with character, history, and a strong identity.
Our roots run deep. They lie in the early settlement of our homeland, in the time of the Lords of Grumbach, in the traces of craftsmanship, agriculture, and faith. They are visible in structures such as Grumbach Castle, in our churches, and in ancient paths and squares that still shape our townscape to this day. History in Rimpar is not distant – it is part of our everyday life.
And yet Rimpar was never a place that stood still.
Change has been a part of it from the very beginning. Over the centuries, our town has continuously reinvented itself, experienced upheavals, and embraced developments. A rural community has evolved into a modern municipality – with a strong infrastructure, diverse facilities, and a vibrant social life.
It is precisely this interplay of roots and change that defines Rimpar.
It is evident in our traditions, which are maintained to this day—and at the same time in our openness to new things. It is evident in the preservation of established structures—and in the willingness to actively shape the future. It is evident in the people who live here: rooted in their homeland and at the same time looking forward.
The anniversary year impressively demonstrates this special strength to us. With great dedication and passion, a diverse program has been created that honors the history of our district while at the same time showing how vibrant Rimpar is today. Festivals, events, and encounters make it clear: our community is alive – and it is carrying the town into the future.
One thing becomes particularly noticeable in the process: roots provide stability.
Change creates perspective.
Both go together. Without our history, we wouldn't know where we stand. Without the courage to change, we couldn't shape what lies ahead.
900 years of Rimpar are therefore not only a reason to celebrate. They are also an invitation to become aware of this connection: to respect the past and to develop the future together.
Let us use this anniversary to strengthen both—our connection to our town and our openness to what is to come. So that Rimpar may continue to be a place that draws strength from its roots and embraces change as an opportunity.

Rimpar is celebrating its 900th anniversary – and the entire community is joining in! At the heart of the celebration is what makes life here special: solidarity, community, and active cooperation. With an impressive program of festivities, the citizens are commemorating the town's rich history and celebrating the present with joy and well-deserved pride.
Rimpar stands for a true quality of life. Historic buildings like Grumbach Castle and the Old Boys' School bear witness to the past, while as cultural and event venues they are firmly anchored in the here and now. Tradition and modernity go hand in hand in Rimpar. Educational institutions and sports clubs, a family support center, and a senior citizens' council show that the municipality is attractive to young and old alike—every generation is considered here. Furthermore, with its idyllic location in Franconian Wine Country, the town offers locals and visitors alike relaxation and a nature experience. Unique views across the Lower Franconian landscape open up, particularly from the Kobel!
All of this emphasizes that Rimpar is a great place to live! Deeply aware of their own roots, the people find their identity and draw strength from it for the future. Thus, today they are shaping what matters tomorrow.

In 2026, the market town of Rimpar will celebrate the 900th anniversary of its first documentary mention. Personally and as a member of the state parliament, I would like to offer my warmest congratulations on this outstanding occasion. I am very pleased that our Minister President, Dr. Markus Söder, has assumed patronage and will honor the festivities with his visit.
First documented in 1126 as „Rintburi,“ the area had already been inhabited for a long time. Favorable geological conditions ensured that people were happy to settle here and shape the landscape and history. The noble family von Grumbach, Prince-Bishop Julius Echter, and Tilman Riemenschneider have left their mark in structures such as Grumbach Castle and the Maidbronn monastery church. History thus remains visible and tangible in Rimpar even in our present day.
Today's residents of Gramschatz, Maidbronn, and Rimpar are carrying on this tradition and getting involved in the community. They are active in clubs and associations, help shape the local townscape, and thus keep the community vibrant. A sense of cohesion and a proactive spirit are particularly evident during the anniversary celebrations: to properly celebrate this milestone, numerous men and women invested a great deal of time and energy into the organization and execution. They put together an attractive and varied festival program. I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all those responsible, organizers, and helpers for their tremendous dedication. I am certain that the celebrations will go down in local history as very special days of honor.
Rimpar contributes to the attractiveness of our beautiful district with its rich cultural tradition, dedicated citizens, an attractive natural and cultural landscape, and much more. Let us not just manage this heritage together, but continue to actively shape it!

900 years – what an impressive number! It stands for a long, eventful history, for generations of people who have shaped this place, and for a future that is being shaped with great dedication and vision.
The market town of Rimpar is an important part of our Würzburg district – historically, culturally, and economically. Its origins date far back to the High Middle Ages, when the „Lords of Rimpar“ lived here and helped shape the region. Schloss Grumbach, which still watches over the town as a cultural center and landmark, is a reminder of this era and brings history to life.
However, Rimpar is not only a place of tradition, but also a place of progress. The community has continuously evolved and today offers a diverse range of educational opportunities, a strong economic structure, and a vibrant club life. Rimpar is particularly well-known for its athletic achievements—foremost the Rimpar Wolves, who have made the community's name known far beyond the district borders.
As a district administrator, I know how important places like Rimpar are for the entire region. They contribute to cultural diversity, they are home to dedicated citizens, and they connect past and future in an impressive way. Rimpar is a place with character, a strong community, and a deep connection to its history.
Such an anniversary is an occasion to be proud of what has been achieved, to remember the past, and at the same time to look forward with confidence. I thank everyone who is committed to the community, whether in local politics, in associations, or in the social and cultural spheres. It is your dedication that keeps Rimpar vibrant and shapes it for generations to come.
