Trenchless water pipe renovation „Zur Veitsmühle“

  • Planner: Ingenieurbüro Köhl Würzburg GmbH
  • Civil Engineering: Würzburger Pflasterbau GmbH
  • Renovation: ROTEC Rohrtechnik GmbH, Erlangen

Starting from May 21, 2024

None

Approx. €320,000

Construction phases and schedule:

The measure was divided into two construction phases:
1. BA: from Bachgasse to Zur Veitsmühle 18
2. Construction section: from Zur Veitsmühle 18 to the turning loop

A construction and renovation period of 6 to 8 weeks is planned for each construction phase, which means a total of – as things stand now – a maximum of 16 weeks of construction work.
The rehabilitation of the water pipe is being carried out using trenchless construction. This means that no trench is required along the entire length, only individual pits—these have already been marked with yellow spray paint in the first construction phase.

Temporary parking bans will also be set up in the required areas, and we ask you to observe and follow them.

Furthermore, some pits are located directly in front of garages and junctions – for example at properties house numbers 2, 4, 6, 8a, and 7.

We would like to ask the residents concerned to park their vehicles elsewhere in good time to avoid being „trapped“ by the pit.

Access through to the end of the street will be guaranteed at all times, and garbage collection will also be able to access the properties.

However, the turning loop must be used as a construction site installation and storage area during the construction work, so minor disruptions may occur here, especially for large vehicles.
So if you are expecting larger deliveries, please contact one of the persons present, they will be happy to help.

Furthermore, starting from May 27, 2024, on Mondays at 2:30 PM, a regular construction meeting with all parties involved will take place, where you are also welcome to approach us with any questions and problems.

Waste disposal:

As already mentioned, access for the garbage truck is guaranteed – if any issues should arise on individual properties due to an assembly pit, the personnel on site will be happy to help.

Evidentiary proceedings

An evidence preservation procedure by the LGA is not planned due to the trenchless rehabilitation – photo documentation will be prepared for individual pits that are very close to private property.

16.07.2024

The no longer needed pits in construction phase 1 were closed again and the asphalt surface course was already installed.

The trench for the new service connection for house no. 15 has been excavated, and additional pits for construction phase 2 are currently being prepared.

The substitute supply has been established and checked, and the houses have been switched over.

The flushing process of the water pipe in BA 2 is running

11.07.2024

The excavation pits in construction phase 1 have been closed and the asphalt work is still to follow.

Simultaneously, the backup supply is being set up in construction phase 2 and the necessary pits are being excavated.

It is planned to line the water pipe of construction phase 2 starting on Monday, July 15, 2024.

03.07.2024

The pits of the first construction phase are partly backfilled with flowable soil and closed again; the corresponding houses have already been reconnected to the rehabilitated pipeline.

In the second construction phase, the backup supply was set up, flushed, disinfected, and the water sample is being taken today.

If this turns out accordingly, further work such as creating the pits, reconnecting the houses, etc., will begin on July 11, in order to then start the renovation of the water pipe on July 15.

24.06.2024

The backfilling of the pits in the 1st construction phase is scheduled for CW 27.

In calendar week 28, the required pits in the 2nd construction phase will then be opened and the affected houses connected to the temporary supply.

10.06.2024

The so-called centrifugal lining work, i.e., the „coating“ of the old water pipe with cement mortar, is in full swing.

In the next few days, this work will be completed, then some of the house connection fittings on the main line will be replaced, the line will be flushed, and a water sample will be taken next week.

The backfilling work for the pits is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2024.

27.05.2024

Currently, the companies are still busy excavating the building pits.

For Wednesday, ROTEC expects the results of the sampling of the alternative water supply. If these are satisfactory, the individual house connections can be reconnected starting Monday; if not, the pipe must be disinfected again.

ROTEC will inform local residents in good time when each reconnections are planned.

21.05.2024

The two companies WPB and ROTEC have started the measure as planned.

After the site installation was set up, WPB began breaking up the asphalt surface of the pits, while ROTEC is in the process of setting up the emergency water supply.

Soon, the first pits are to be created using a suction excavator.
